About Us

Stand With Our St. Vrain Creek is a group of Longmont citizens engaged in preserving St. Vrain Creek as important wildlife habitat and the riparian area surrounding the creek as a crucial wildlife movement corridor between the foothills and the plains. The group has since expanded its focus to include the protection of all Longmont parks and open spaces.

The group formed in response to Longmont’s 100-year flood mitigation project “Resilient St. Vrain,” which, upon completion, will remove some 800 acres of land from the flood plain. Seeing the potential for development near the creek to be detrimental to its health, and to the health of the surrounding riparian habitat, resident wildlife, and people’s enjoyment of a natural area, the founding members of the group saw the necessity of becoming a voice for Longmont’s natural areas and wildlife.
